Built in 1963 by Grandma Jackie and Grandpa Roger in the heart of simple, uncultivated fields by the Mediterranean Sea in Argelès-sur-mer, Camping La Sardane has come a long way since then. Stories of love, Catalan culture, creativity and ambition: what magical ingredients to make this “baby” blossom!
Catalan culture, essential in the hearts of these pioneers, resonates here in the very terms of its name. The “Sardana”, well known in our land, is a traditional local dance which, hopping in a hand-in-hand circle, celebrates sharing, respect and good humor. Values similar to the notion of camping, what do you think… ?!
Sensibly archaic at its inception, the establishment, whose soul remains unchanged, has tended to modernize over the years. While “grandpa and grandma” sketched out the contours, their daughter Nadine has been emphasizing the heart of the site since 1992, with the creation of a swimming pool. La Sardane is now the first campsite on the beach to be equipped!
In 1998, Nadine and her husband Serge took over the reins of the establishment and set about making it prosper. Leaving behind the rank of “traditional campsite” to immediately attain that of “camping club”, La Sardane will be taking a radical turn in 2010. The result: the creation of a new aquatic complex and the restructuring of the entertainment and catering areas to satisfy the most demanding holidaymakers.
La Sardane’s name is well established, and it has since become one of the most popular campsites. The challenges were many, but they were without counting on the zeal and youthfulness of their son Rémi, who joined his parents in 2012 to give the place a fresh look. Together, they will shape “Le Tropical”, the first private pedestrian district with an exotic aura, embroidered with luxurious homes equipped with private spas.
The dice are cast, the train is no longer at the station… Defying storms and questions, this triple-generation campsite blends modernity and authenticity to preserve its humanity. People are at the heart of it, but Nature accompanies them and makes them vibrate.
In 2020, a “greener” direction is slowly taking shape at La Sardane: responsible water management, construction of a mini-farm for the enjoyment of young and old alike. At the same time, with the creation of a semi-Olympic pool, a long-standing project, the establishment is giving itself a more sporting impetus.
Latent; however, it was in 2022 that a new wind blew over La Sardane. This time around, the campsite took on a “Nature, Relaxation and Sport” approach, coloring its new identity while respecting its historical roots. New image, new logo! Don’t worry, Grandma and Grandpa, your little dancers are safe! At the same time, in this era of modernity, new projects are taking shape at La Sardane. These include a restructuring of leisure activities, the design of a new type of accommodation – Le Baby Family – and the genesis of a new, more advanced Tropical district with its own private garden.
Become LPO refuge In 2022, having crystallized and strengthened its pro-environmental action policy, Camping La Sardane has not said its last word, and is actively tackling new challenges through new actions in favor of its ecological aspirations. So, in 2023, it will become one of the providers of the Accueil Vélo” brand, ensuring that touring cyclists have easy access to the site and find services adapted to their nomadic situation.
With this evolutionary perspective in mind, the establishment has been offered two hébergement toilés “bivouac”ideal for nomadic sports enthusiasts, as well as the rental of Emplacement Confort of 160m² with private sanitary facilities.
To celebrate its 60th anniversary, the campsite is changing generations: it’s Rémi‘s turn to take over the reins, and he’ll be joined by Jérôme a few months later. Together they will perpetuate the family tradition and continue to develop the campsite. In 2024, new accommodation on a 160m² plot, Le Cottage Premium, with its two suites, dishwasher, plancha and many other features, seems to be the perfect solution for convivial days combining comfort, privacy and security! For this 2025 season, from a pedestrian area space is arriving, Le Riad bedroom and 3-bedroom offer to best satisfy our holidaymakers, this accommodation is proposed with hotel services… we’ll let you discover it.
For 2026, the campsite is highlighting its Woofi range, designed to welcome your four-legged companions. It consists of specially adapted mobile homes as well as dedicated pitches, offering all the necessary comfort for a successful stay with your dog. This exclusive range allows everyone to fully enjoy their holidays with family, in a suitable and safe environment where both humans and pets have their place.”
